A Clarion Call to Rebellion?

The following reader comment was submitted by Ira M. Kessel to the Reader Mail section of The American Spectator Magazine. It is insightful, powerful and truthful - a MUST READ:

America was seeking change and Obama offered at least that. Many did not want to know if the change was real or phantasmagorical. Truth or lie, this was not the concern of the majority. Like infants, they wanted change that comforted them. And they wanted it now.

The One has a silver tongue. He is a rhetorician of the first order. He is one of the finest orators since the Great Communicator himself, but as where Reagan spoke truth to power, Obama has spoken to gain power with little regard for the truth. 

Obama convinced the majority of Americans he is exactly what he is not. The New Messiah out flanked Billary on the left and quickly, almost seamlessly, tacked to the center (at least rhetorically). That the mass media moronic mentality did not allow detection of this deception is not surprising; reporting the news while salivating over The Chosen One is a heavy task indeed. Even with the malingering media’s pandering, the American public was (and is) still responsible for its choices and facing the consequence of those choices. 

So, yes, the majority of the voting electorate has been hoodwinked, bamboozled, conned, duped and outright fooled. And they were taken in willingly. Most frighteningly, if Chef Obama turned up the heat slowly, most would have continue to smile as they were simmered into oblivion of a boiling soup. But the Titan of the Teleprompter shows his inexperience, impatience, arrogance, or ineptitude (or a combination of thereof) by turning up the heat immediately. The Master of the Mendacious, in his rush to consolidate his power, may have been caught in his own snare.  Instead of moving with stealth and deliberateness, Obama has awakened America from its somnambulistic stumbling. From the Left to the Right, the rumblings of discontent are starting to be heard.  Rebellion on these shores is not without precedent

Our true illustrious (as opposed to well back lighted) forefather Thomas Jefferson was clear that the government was to serve the people and never vice versa. He was equally clear that if the government became tyrannical, the people had both the right and responsibility to rebel. From the Declaration of Independence: "That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed -- That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

If it is to be answered remains a mystery. What is plain to see is that if the GOP does not find its spine, the republic that all freedom loving American has come to know will be no more. The damage that is being done will become so irreparable that rebellion will be the only remedy. 

Sometimes a leg must be broken so that it can be properly reset, but in the words of another paragon of freedom, also a Founding Father, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Be you, Conservative, Republican, Libertarian or even Democrat, let your voice be heard through your elected officials (‘nee public servants): Mr. President, we are no longer under your thrall. We have seen the European/Socialist republic that is the inevitable outcome of your actions; your words can beguile us no longer. Over eleven score years ago, our forefathers heartily rejected the governments of kings and tyranny. We refuse to return to those days of servitude.

We are in the winter of our discontent. Let no lie convince you otherwise. If we wish to bask in the sun again, we must tear down lies with truth. If speaking truth be treason, let’s make the most of it.
